Near-miss electrical fire

This is the back of my dishwasher and it’s meant to be black, flat and smooth. The bobbling and distortion is from high temperatures. Though not particularly visible in this low-resolution camera-phone picture, there are several holes where the fire inside the dishwasher melted through the casing. And there’s that distinctive “burning plastic, scorched metal” smell…
