2012 in Review: Photography

Back in 2011 I set myself a list of goals for my photography. It has been two years now, and the goalposts have obviously moved as I have strived to reach them. How well do I feel I have done?
relax, don't be in such a hurry
I still work pretty quickly, especially in post-processing, but I think I spend more time on each shot. Of course, film slows me down and the new large format camera will slow me to a near standstill.

Reviewing my Photography in 2010: Experimental

The last genre of photography I'll touch on in my review of 2010 is the more arty and experimental, where that hasn't already been covered earlier.

In 2010 I experimented in both the digital and analogue realms. I returned to some of my black and white roots dabbling with pinhole photography, and went as far as modifying lenses. I expanded my skills at digital manipulation and post-processing. I promised myself to do more with the black and white darkroom, but this will have to wait till 2011 now.

Reviewing my Photography in 2010: Art Nude and Fetish

It came out of nowhere!

I tell a lie: I know exactly where it came from. It started with 2009's New Year Resolution to improve my self-esteem, went via the gym on my bicycle, involved a wonderful lady reminding me to take the brown paper bag off my head, and ended up in a catsuit. From there a photoshoot turned "boudoir" but without the right skills or photography vocabulary to express what I saw. And then I saw the advert...

2010 in Photographs

2010 is the year that photography, a long-standing hobby of mine, returned in force to my pastimes:

  1. I first did proper "modelled" photography

Excluding a very short spell of promotional photography at university for a dramatic production, this is the first time I have had someone stand in front of the camera with the specific aim of them being the subject of the picture. I'd not directed a model, and suddenly I had two. Practice, practice, practice!
