The third day with the new keyboard technology has been very encouraging! I’ve regained some typing speed and much accuracy, so will continue with the typing exercises and drills to improve my proficiency.
I managed to do a little coding (as usual in Python) which felt a little alien still, partly the still unfamiliar human-computer interface, partly the code content (binary polynomials and elliptic curves being perhaps little beyond my faded abilities), and partly because XEmacs has disappeared from Debian testing (aka. Sarge). The loss of my primary development tool was exacerbated because the laptop hard-disk has given up the ghost, where previously I could revert to using a more bleeding edge set of tools.
Tomorrow is the return to work, and will be an extremely important day: the CNST assessor is in and s/he’ll be looking over the last six months’ of my working career
