I was invited to help BirdLife Malta at the British Bird Watching Fair 2011. I wandered around Rutland Water during my "down time" and took some nature photographs.
My earliest memory of using a camera dates from around the age of five: entrusted with my parents' Zenit E and 35mm and 50mm prime lenses, a school trip to Chester zoo saw me taking photographs without guidance. Membership of the Young Ornithologists' Club (RSPB for kids) cemented the fascination with capturing nature on film.
Excluding a very short spell of promotional photography at university for a dramatic production, this is the first time I have had someone stand in front of the camera with the specific aim of them being the subject of the picture. I'd not directed a model, and suddenly I had two. Practice, practice, practice!
