Earlier in 2010, while en-route to Morzine, I took my co-travellers to the "art deco café" at Bellegarde train station. A few months after I arrived home Bellegarde was unveiled as the future of French railway stations to come, and so I was curious to revisit the station this winter.
Sadly it would appear that the "art deco café" has gone the way of progress. Before:

Just north of Bourg-en-Bresse the whole of France seems to be a high-speed blur limited to twenty yards either side of the TGV. Beyond that the mist clinging to the flat landscape is obscuring everything.
