A few days ago Raven posted lyrical poetry titled Beneath an Empty Sky. This is the improvised “radio edit” of the song.

The harmonies are based around a D-rooted dorian-mode; some augmented and diminished seventh chords make the tonality a little more interesting; and there is a surprise cadence at the end.

A message in my mailbox today:

Please tell me [this] means you aren’t talking about sex on the first date..! :\

Actually, yes, I was talking about sex on a first date. “Talking about” is quite different from “soliciting”. Some thoughts I’d written about this in an email exchange with a friend began as follows:
