Many links in this post go to images which are definitely not safe for work!
I like to think that I am neither a prude nor a sex maniac; that I can appreciate both the erotic and the sensual in art. To me "nude photography" is very much on the sensual side of that scale, a delight for the visual sense but not providing the titillation of the erotic. It is about form, lighting, and the presentation of the human form. As humans we find the human form beautiful, aesthetically and sexually attractive, but I think we've lost our way somewhere between the two.
Almost two years ago I graduated from iPhoto to Aperture for managing my photography collection. There were too many files for iPhoto to cope reasonably, and I felt I needed more flexibility and power to post-process. When Aperture 3 was released, I duly gamma-tested and then upgraded, and apart from its ability to crash more often than Aperture 2 I would say that the upgrade has definitely been worth it.
It has been a long time since I moved blogging platform, the last such move being "to the cloud". For the last few months, though, I've been wondering about coming down from the skies and returning to the world of the self-hosted.
This post exists mainly to contain all the myriad media which need to come across from Tumblr.
EF refers to the EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 IV, while EF-S refers to the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II, and Sigma refers to the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM.
The 7D camera was set to ISO 100. All lenses were set to approximately 55mm focal length, physically supported and used without image stabilisation. Two regions were compared as highlighted here:
Old refers to the 75-300mm f/4-5.6 II, while new refers to the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. Pictures were converted from the 7D’s full resolution RAW to JPEG with identical settings, aligned in Photoshop, then cropped to a 480x480 pixel section at 100% zoom.
The images presented are taken at ISO 1600 in the middle of the field of view, approximately from the area highlighted here:
